WHAT IS DERMAPLANING AND WHY DO I NEED IT?

Dermaplaning is the manual exfoliation of the skin using a sterile, surgical blade to immediately rejuvenate the skin by removing the outermost layer of dead, dull surface cells and vellous hair (peach fuzz). It is also highly effective in minimizing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and acne scars while leaving the skin smooth, supple and vibrant. It’s great for prepping the skin prior to peels and enzyme treatments.

Dermaplaning increases the penetration of active ingredients used in the treatment room and the efficacy of home skin care products.

Dermaplaning is extremely safe when performed by a professionally trained skin care specialist utilizing the appropriate tools for service. Clients have zero down time after treatment.

ONCE THE VELLOUS HAIR IS REMOVED, WILL IT GROW BACK THICKER?

No, this is physiologically impossible.

There are two types of hair that grow on our bodies: 1. Vellous hair is the thin, fine, soft hair that typically covers the entire body. 2. Terminal hair is the course hair that grows on the head, underarms, legs, pubic area, and face of men.

Dermaplaning, waxing, tweezing or any other depilatory form of hair removal cannot alter the type of hair that grows in a given area. The vellous hair removed in dermaplaning will grow back slowly- usually in about 4 weeks.

CAN DERMAPLANING CAUSE THE SKIN TO BLEED?

Yes, excessive scraping, nicks and cuts can cause bleeding. This is why it is imperative to have a professional, licensed aesthetician perform this treatment.

HOW OFTEN CAN THIS PROCEDURE BE PERFORMED?

Dermaplaning every 3 to 4 weeks will keep your skin looking vibrant and fresh! Each treatment removes about 2 to 3 weeks worth of dead skin cells!

WHO CAN BE TREATED?

All skin types can benefit from dermaplaning. Men can be dermaplaned on non-beard areas only.
